My Dear Boy

I've been looking for this for ages. Here are Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie from 1992, in a sketch that has stuck in my mind ever since. Fry is hilarious as this camp, arch exquisite, a not too exaggerated caricature of a species of old pouf most of us have encountered at some point in our gay old lives.

This is *exactly* like my workplace, which won't surprise you, no doubt. I was told the other day at dinner about the best places for nude bathing, complete with handy bushes, by an aged mathematical queen in his late 70s. Complete with obsence mouth gestures.

Not hard to see where Fry drew his inspiration from, is it? By the way, the n-u-d-e bathing, dear boy... would that be Grantchester Meadows? Is it still allowed?

Too, too funny! How did this pass me by?

I have met a couple of blokes like this - both army officers, oddly enough. I suppose it's living in the field that encourages one to be 'camp'!

Happy new year =]

PS - This was a salutory reminder not to call my mechanic 'my dear boy' again! lol
